By the end of the week you need to read chapters 13 through the epilogue in Hatchet, post
your response to the question, reply to my post on your response, and comment on
two other group member's posts.
Were you surprised by the events described in the Epilogue? Did you wish events had turned out differently? Explain.
I was very suprised with what happened in the Epilogue because I didn't think that Brian was going to get picked up because it's a series. I laughed when Brian said in the last sentence of the story,"would you like a drink?" I'm glad that Brian got picked up because now I'm wondering what's gonna happen in the second book and why he's going to have to survive the winter like Nick said in his voki.

Mackenzie,
DeleteI like that you used Nick's Voki to predict what you think will happen to Brian in the next book.
What tools does Brian make and for what does he use them? How does this accomplishment make Brian feel about himself and his situation?
-Miss Tate
I was suprised that the Epilouge said that he had been there for 54 days and I wished that "would you like somthing to eat" would not be the last sentence because I want to read more and figure out what happed. I also wanted him to get in touch with his dad and tell him about his experince.

Claire,
DeleteGary Paulsen, the author, definitely left us with a cliff hanger!
What would Brian tell his dad? How do you think his experience in the woods will change his relationships with his mom and dad?
-Miss Tate
I wish the story could last to where he told his mom and dad about his adventure -Joey
DeleteIn the epilouge I was a bit suprised that Brian had NO body fat. I wish that the story kept going on longer when he found the survival kit because I was really getting interested in the book and I wanted to see how long Brian could survive with the survival kit.
ReplyDelete-Jonni
Jonni,
DeleteI agree, I wanted to see what would happen if Brian wasn't rescued and had to stay in the woods.
In what two ways does Brian measure time? Which way has the most meaning for him and why?
-Miss Tate
I agree with you Jonni I wish the story could go on longer
DeleteI was suprised that Brian found the piolet and the suplise in the plane and now I whant to read Brians winter so I can find out how the story ends -Joey
ReplyDeleteBrian's Winter is Gary Paulsens' "what if" Brian hadn't been rescued version of Hatchet. He had a lot of readers wanting to know what would have happened to Brian had he not been rescued.
DeleteWhat causes Brian to have to rebuild his shelter twice? Why does Brian spend so much time on rebuilding?
-Miss Tate
Brians camp is destroyed by a bear so he has to rebuild his shelter to have a place to sleep
DeleteI forgot that Brian got picked up in the end of the story. I wonder how Brian ended up back in the wild in the second book. I am pretty sure that Brian was surprised when the poilt arrived.
ReplyDelete-Nick
Gary Paulsen recieved a lot of "what if" questions from his readers wanting to know what if Brian hadn't been rescued. So, in the second book Brian had never left the woods because he hadn't been rescued.
DeleteWhy might Brian have mixed feelings about using some of the items in the survival pack?
