By the end of the week you need to read chapters 6-12 in Hatchet, post
your response to the question, reply to my post on your response,
and comment on two other group member's posts.
How did you react to what happened to Brian in chapters 6-12? What went through your mind at the end of chapter 12?
I can tell Brian is getting desperit because he can picture him self with his father eating and telling him about his adventure when he hears a plane engine.
ReplyDelete-Nick
Nick, what do you think Brian means when he tells himself that self-pity doesn't work?
Delete-Miss Tate
I think he means feeling sorry for himself is not going to help his problem and that he doesn`t have time to think about his sorrow.
Delete-Nick
I think the same thing Nick
DeleteI think Brian is getting home sick because Brian is picturing family and freinds in his mind -Joey
ReplyDeleteJoey, where does Brian find shelter? Why does he consider it a lucky find?
DeleteJoey, I like the way you thought he was getting home sick.

Mackenzie, what wild visitor helps Brian figure out how to build a fire? How? What does
Deletethe fire mean to Brian?
A porcupine helps Brian figure out how to build a fire because he trys to throw his hatchet at the porcupine but he misses and it hits a rock and little sparks come out so he finds out he could use the rock and his hatchet to start a fire. The fire means everything to Brian he could cook food with a fire he could keep warm with a fire he's realy glad to have the fire because he was so cold at night and now he's not as cold. He also said the fire was so precious to him the first couple days he didn't let the fire out of his site.

The wild visitor that comes is a porcupine. the porcupine helps Brian build a fire because he throws his hatchet at it but he misses and it hits a rock and sparks fly out of it. He discovers that if he finds paper he could use his hatchet to start some sparks and the paper to make the flames bigger to create a fire.

I imagined Brian sort of like an Indian through chapters
ReplyDelete6-12 because it said that he was getting a tan and looking and acting differently. At the end of chapter 12 I wasn't too suprised when the helicopter didn't see Brian because there was still a lot of pages left in the book so if the helicopter saw him the book probably would have ended way too early.
-Jonni
Jonni, what if Brian had been rescued at that point? What do you think the rest of the story would have been about?
Delete- Miss Tate
Jonni, I totally agree with you that the story would have ended way to early. i love how you visulized that he would look like an indian. Your so smart!
